Snappi Cloth Diaper Fasteners ... never pin a cloth diaper again.

The Snappi Diaper Fastener has revolutionized cloth diapering. Invented by a dad that was convinced there had to be a better way to fastener cloth diapers, over 40 million Snappi fasteners have been sold worldwide. It is a SAFE, HYGIENIC and EASY-to-use cloth diaper fastener that offers a practical and reliable way to fasten your cloth diapers, replacing the need for diaper pins. The Snappi is available in a variety of colors and is made from a stretchable non-toxic material which is T-shaped with grips on each end. These grips hook into the cloth diaper fabric to ensure a snug-fitting diaper while still providing natural movement for your baby.

Snappi Cloth Diaper Fasteners are made from Latex-Free, 100% Polyurethane.

Made in South Africa

Snappi cloth diaper fasteners work BEST with cotton prefolds (Indian prefolds, chinese prefolds or cotton twill weave Diaper Service Quality prefolds), hemp/cotton cloth diapers, terry cloth diapers and other cloth diapers with a loose enough weave for the Snappi to hook into. They do not work well with tightly woven diapers such as flannel diapers.

Snappi Claw Foot

Getting Started with your Snappi Cloth Diaper Fastener:

Preparing your Snappi for use: STRETCH your Snappi diaper fastener before its first use. This stretching triggers the "memory" of the Snappi to return to its original size and in so doing, pulls the diaper together to the middle to allow for a snug fit. This is essential for the Snappi to work properly. This is done by holding the Snappi in the center with one hand and close to the end of the leg (not by the rings) and with the other hand, s-t-r-e-t-c-h a few times (10 or so). As you do this you should feel how the material "softens" or gets more elastic. Follow this stretching procedure with each leg. The Snappi is then ready to be used!

Using Your Snappi Fastener for Cloth Diapers

Using your Snappi Cloth Diaper Fastener in 3 Easy Steps!

  1. Hook left, securing the Snappi claw foot into the fabric of your cloth diapers.
  2. S-T-R-E-T-C-H and hook right, securing the other foot into the fabric of your cloth diapers.
  3. S-T-R-E-T-C-H down and hook the center foot to secure your Snappi cloth diaper fastener in place..

Step One

Step Three

So your Snappi cloth diaper fastener has gone from a "T" shape to a "Y" shape. By doing this, the Snappi should be secure, the diaper will fit snugly and the baby should not be able to undo it. Place a cover over diaper and Snappi fastener. Make sure that your Snappi is ATTACHED SECURELY. It is important that the Snappi "leg" being attached is stretched as far as possible before hooking it into the diaper.

Caring for your Snappi: ALWAYS use a cover when using a Snappi fastener on your baby's diaper. Keep out of children's reach when not in use! Do not use your Snappi for longer than 6 months. Do not leave your Snappi lying in the sun as it is not UV resistant and this can reduce the effectiveness of the Snappi. Clean your Snappi in hot soapy water. Do not launder them with diapers in the washer as this may weaken the grip attachment. CAUTION: Any tear in the Snappi can lead to separation of a piece, presenting a possible choking hazard. Inspect your Snappi before each use and discontinue using immediately if there is any sign of cracking, tearing, breakage or wear of the teeth or any other parts. Do not cut your Snappi as this may cause tearing.

Do Away with Pins Forever - Use the Snappi Cloth Diaper Fasteer!

Jeffery from Halifax, Nova Scotia (Canada) asks us...

Q: How many Snappi Cloth Diaper Fasteners will we need?

A: Really, this is going to vary from one family to the next and will depend entirely on how organized you are. For example, are you the type of person to set something down, and then forget where you put it? Do you misplace your keys often? Do you typically put your cell phone in a different spot after every call, and then wonder where the heck it is when you need to use it again?

If this sounds like you, you'll probably need more Snappi's than a family that is very organized and not likely to loose or misplace a Snappi or two. Once you factor in the additional loss of memory that occurs right after childbirth (those hormones are a crazy thing!) it can never hurt to have a handful of Snappi fasteners on hand. A good starting point is 4-6 Snappi fasteners, as you can always use 2 by the change station and 2 in the diaper bag. Also, it is highly recommended that if you use your Snappi daily it should be replaced every 6 months in order to prevent tearing or breakage of your Snappi.

  1. Perfect for prefolds Review by CINDY

The Snappi is an amazing invention to replace the common diaper pin. If you are like me and squeamish at the thought of using a huge sharp pin on your little bundle, you will love the Snappi. While its little claws are a little sharp, it isn't even close to that of a pin. They are super fast and easy to use on a prefold or semi fitted once you get the hang of it. Give it a good stretch before using it the first time. (Posted on 1/3/11)

This invention is genius. I'm so glad I bought this before my baby was born so I never had to fuss with pins. I was worried they might break, so I bought 2 but after 6 months of full-time use and another 7+ months of occasional use (once he grew out of the infant-size pre-folds), the first one is still going strong. This is one of the newfangled baby gadgets that I have recommended the most. (Posted on 1/3/11)

  3. Innovative alternative for diaper pins Review by Barbara

My parents cloth-diapered me (30 years ago), so they were really impressed with this neat little gadget for keeping the diaper closed. Much better than pins!

The only issue that I have is that they do break more easily than I thought. I started out with 3 and we had two of them break within 7 months. The first one that came in the Bummis kit was the "old" style and broke within a month. The Snappi website says that they should last 6 months of constant use, but I think that it may have been old stock, so it was brittle right from the start.

When we looked to buy two more from bynature.ca, the cost to ship them is more than the actual product (unless you make a big enough order to get free shipping) and they are impossible to find at local diapering stores (when sold separately from the Bummis kits.)

Overall, I'm extremely happy with the product, but I wish that I had ordered at least 5 when I ordered my kit. I also wish that I didn't toss the original Snappi that broke after only 3 weeks of use, since I would have sent it back for a replacement, now that I know that it was an "old style" made before 2006. It didn't always grab the prefold very easily and you had to push it into the fabric a bit. Maybe it's just me, but I found it somewhat hard to hold the prefold in place while fastening the Snappi. However, I think the Snappi is well-made and would last a long time. It just wasn't for me.
