This will make it easy to ensure your baby is safe, snug and secure within the folds of the Moby Wrap, as well as ensuring the fabric is spread comfortable across your back, shoulders and front for complete comfort and support. A baby wrap is the perfect newborn baby carrier providing security, warmth, vibrating sound & pleasure. When wrapped in the Moby Wrap your baby is in the perfect environment to thrive.
The Moby Wrap Baby Wrap ... keeping your baby content & close to your heart.
The Moby Wrap is a traditional wrap-around style baby carrier that takes us back to the origins of baby carrying when parents would swaddle their infants and young children close to their bodies with fabric cloths, tie in place, and go about their day's work. While several hundred years may have passed since the tradition of baby wrapping began, this time-tested method of carrying a baby is just as comfortable, safe and convenient as it always has been. When carried in the Moby Wrap your baby is close to your heartbeat and finds comfort in the warmth of your body all within the secure and cuddly confines of it's folds. Providing security, warmth, vibrating sound and pleasure when wrapped in the Moby Wrap, your baby is in the perfect environment to thrive.
Don't let this style of baby carrier fool you - the Moby Wrap is not as complicated as it looks! One tying method will allow you to put your baby into 2-4 different carrying positions without the need to re-tie. One of the best features of a stretchy-style baby wrap such as the Moby Wrap is that it is "forgiving" when trying to position your baby, and the fabric moves WITH your body rather than restricts. You have the ultimate control in adjustment and a bit of s-t-r-e-t-c-h means you have the ability to position your baby comfortably without the need to re-wrap. A stretchy baby wrap such as the Moby Wrap is highly recommended for parents new to the wrapping process. Considered the ultimate baby wrap, the Moby Wrap is cozy, comfortable, adjustable and affordable - everything you want in the perfect newborn baby carrier.
What is a Baby Wrap Baby Carrier?
The Moby Wrap is a simple single stretch of cotton fabric that is wide through the middle and tapered at the ends. There are no clips, loops, straps, snaps, buckles or parts to lose or confuse you. While it does take some practice to get comfortable with the multitude of carrying positions the Moby Wrap is capable of, this is one carrier that can do it all. Just like learning to tie your shoelaces, take your time and be patient. After only a few practice runs you'll be able to tie your Moby Wrap in your sleep! And as busy parents with a newborn, infant or toddler (sometimes more than one!) we know that the ability to wrap while sleep-deprived is a necessity. Once you've mastered the few simple techniques required to tie your baby to your body, many parents attest to the fact that a wrap-style baby carrier can often be faster and easier to load and secure your baby in than with a more technical and complicated front or framed baby carrier.
The Moby Wrap -
When carried in the Moby Wrap the beat of your heart and the warmth of your body against your baby will put your infant at total ease. This really has to be seen to be believed! For a fussy, high-needs or colicky baby that requires constant carrying or cuddling, the Moby Wrap is ideal. Once your baby is snuggled securely in the Moby Wrap, crying and fussing magically disappears. One of the greatest features of the Moby Wrap is that it wears like a piece of clothing. Once tied to your body you can comfortably leave the Moby Wrap in place even when your baby isn't being carried. Ready at a moments notice, it is quick and easy to slip your baby back into the Moby Wrap without the need to retie your baby carrier.

Michelle Penny from Calgary, Alberta (Canada) asks us...
Q: I see you also carry The CuddlyWrap™. What is the difference between the Moby Wrap vs. the CuddlyWrap?
A: This is a great question and one we are often asked. If you are new to wrap-style baby carriers you might like to read about our very popular CuddlyWrap™ as the majority of the information is also pertinent to the Moby Wrap. The CuddlyWrap™ is the same "stretchy" wrap-style carrier as the Moby Wrap with a few key differences which is why we are so pleased to be offering both incredible baby carrier wraps. The Moby Wrap is considered by many to be the ultimate stretchy wrap-style carrier and is often referred to as the original baby wrap that helped popularize the art of baby wrapping in western culture. As a Canadian company we strive to offer products originating in Canada as often as we can, and the CuddlyWrap™ is one product we absolutely fell in love with the first time we used it with our own newborn. The CuddlyWrap is also a stretchy wrap, designed and manufactured by moms in Canada, with one major difference. The custom organic cotton fabric used in the CuddlyWrap™ is the softest cotton we have found. When compared side-by-side, the CuddlyWrap is simply scrumptious and, well, cuddlier!
A few other notable differences and similarities between the Moby Wrap and the CuddlyWrap™...
- Fabric. Both are the highest quality 100% cotton. The Moby Wrap is a slightly heavier cotton knit, double interlock and the CuddlyWrap™ is a lighter-weight, custom-woven buttery-soft ORGANIC cotton interlock. The organic cotton CuddlyWrap is has been Oeco-Tex certified. The Moby Wrap offers slightly more warmth in a sturdier fabric whereas the Cuddly Wrap is much softer to the touch - the cuddliest for a newborn.
- Length and Width. Both are approximately the same length (5.5 - 6 meters long) with the Moby Wrap being a bit wider through the middle than the CuddlyWrap™ (helpful with twins or an older baby). They are both a one-size fits all baby wrap.
- Construction. Both baby wraps have attractively surged edges and a middle marker helping you find the center of your wrap quickly and easily. Both the Moby Wrap and the Cuddly Wrap™ have tapered ends making it easy to tie and reducing excess bulk around the middle of a smaller wearer.
- Ease of Use. Both are a stretchy wrap with the CuddlyWrap™ offering slightly more "give". It is this stretch that allows you to shape and conform the wrap to your body and hug your baby close. Most parents find the CuddlyWrap™ slightly easier to use with a newborn. For an older, heavier baby less is more (supportive, that is!), so the sturdier nature of the Moby Wrap means a more comfortable hold (hug?).
- Instructions. Both come with written & illustrated instructions with the Moby Wrap instructions being in full-colour, more detailed and a bit easier to follow. The CuddlyWrap™ makes up for this with their free instructional DVD that is included with the carrier - beneficial when given as a gift.
- Country of Origin. The Moby Wrap is a US-design and made in Thailand under fair labor conditions. The CuddlyWrap™ was designed by moms and continues to be manufactured in Canada.
- Colours & Availability. The Moby Wrap and the CuddlyWrap are available in a variety of different colours, while the colours may vary between brands. As the CuddlyWrap™ is a Canadian company, it is almost ALWAYS in stock, or if we have a particularly busy week, they will be arriving in about 3-4 days. The Moby Wrap is imported and therefore takes longer to pass through customs. We generally have new Moby Wrap stock every 4 weeks. As an in-stock store, however, you can rest assured that if you can add the baby wrap to your cart it is ready to ship (unless otherwise noted). Whether you choose the Moby Wrap or the CuddlyWrap™, with our large, in-stock selection you can be "cuddling" in no time.
- Price. The Moby Wrap costs $63.98 and the organic cotton CuddlyWrap™ costs $71.98 CDN.
Moby Wrap - Slate Gray
CuddlyWrap™ - Sage
Q: Which would you choose - the Moby Wrap or the CuddlyWrap™?
A: Most parents choose the Moby Wrap when buying for themselves - the majority of parents find the Moby carrier can be used for longer due to the heavier construction of the fabric. When looking for a baby shower gift or a gift for a new mom, the CuddlyWrap™ is the more popular option as the instructional DVD is incredibly helpful for a new mother and the organic cotton fabric is absolutely the softest you'll find. For the newborn stage both wraps are equally as popular but if you're thinking you will use your wrap beyond infancy you may find more support and comfort with the Moby Wrap as your baby grows. Many parents will use a stretchy wrap baby carrier for an infant and then upgrade to a soft-pack carrier such as the Ergo Baby Carrier or a non-stretchy wrap with less "bounce" such as the EllaRoo Wrap for an older or heavier baby. Either brand of stretchy wrap-style baby carrier - The Moby Wrap or The Cuddly Wrap™ - will help you get over the initial learning curve of using a wrap with ease and you won't have spent a bundle.
A Customer Reviews the Moby Wrap
I was a little skeptical about the Moby Wrap when I saw it for the first time being that it was only one really long piece of fabric that sounded complicated to use. However I couldn't deny that it did look comfortable to wear and the pictures of the babies snuggled deep in the folds of the fabric just looked so peaceful. I knew I had to give the Moby Wrap a fair chance with my newborn. I was desperate for a way to free up my hands so I could better attend to my older child's needs at the same time as caring for my infant.
I was so excited when my Moby Wrap arrived and pleasantly surprised at how simple it actually was to use. It seemed daunting at first, but the instructions are very thorough and so it took less than a minute to tie on my Moby Wrap for the first time. Lily fell asleep instantly when put into the carrier - I couldn't believe it. I was able to secure her high against my chest (although the positioning is endless!), so I imagine the sound of my heartbeat was very soothing for her. I'm even typing this while she sleeps! It is AWESOME to be able to carry her and type with both hands free, but the best part is that her tiny head is within kissing distance and I can hug and kiss her between paragraphs.
On an extra fussy day (like during the teething stages) my Moby Wrap is a lifesaver. I can rock, kiss and cuddle Lily while still being able to interact and play with my two-year old as well as get things down around the house. I feel so less overwhelmed with Lily in the Moby Wrap because I can be there for her and my older child at the same time. I only wish I had had this baby carrier from day one with my first child!
I must admit that I LOVE it when strangers stare at me and ask, "is there a baby in there?". It gives me the chance to show off how fabulous the Moby Wrap is - and of course let them sneak a peak at my beautiful daughter who is usually sleeping away against my chest. It's amazing how such a traditional method of carrying a baby still gets strange looks and raised eyebrows, but it only takes a second of admiring the sleeping infant that is safe, content and secure to see why the Moby Wrap is so incredible. The bond shared between my daughter and I is strong, as I can quickly and easily attend to her needs while still being able to go about MY day. My older son doesn't feel left out because I am able to be there for him 100% knowing that my infant is most comfortable snuggled close to mom. I don't know what I would do without my Moby Wrap...

We honestly believe that every parent with a new baby on the scene should have a baby carrier. This is one baby necessity that will be loved and well-used in any family.
Skeptical at first, now I'm sold Review by Kristen

I looked at these before baby came along, but I thought they were a bit ridiculous. Well I learned my lesson. After baby came I discovered just how much he needs to be held during all hours of the day, and if I was ever going to manage to do anything (including eat or nap myself), I would have to figure something out. I tried a sling, but I found that after an extended period I became uncomfortable with it pulling on only one shoulder (though baby was cozy). I finally gave in and tried a wrap style carrier. I started out by 'making' my own - fortunately I had a long piece of t-shirt material in my sewing bin. It quickly became clear that he loved it, but my home-made attempts wouldn't really cut it. I considered getting better fabric from the shop, but realized by the time I did that I was just as well of buying a proper one.Would you recommend this product to a friend? Without hesitation!
And I am so glad I did! The fabric is perfect - sturdy but just enough stretch. It is finished nicely on the edges, and tapered to make it easy to tie. It is comfortable for me, hugging my back and shoulders beautifully. And baby loves it, falling asleep tucked in with mommy. It is a little hot for me on the hottest days of summer, but baby doesn't seem to mind. It is also great for keeping him upright after eating because he sometimes has trouble with gas and this gets all the bubbles out as I move around. It is easy to take places, can be rolled up in a bag no problem. And when he's in it I can move around, sit down, even lie down for a nap, and baby is content. This will get a lot of use, and I will certainly recommend it to any new or expecting moms I meet. (Posted on 7/13/10)
An excellent option for carrying babies from newborn to about three or four months Review by Rebecca
Quality Price Value
I bought the Moby Wrap for my second child and could not have been happier. My daughter loved being carried in the Moby Wrap, and she happily took her naps in it as well. My baby was a bit colicky, and being wrapped up close to me calmed her. Most significant for me, perhaps, was the fact that I could nurse her in it while sitting or even while walking. This is especially helpful when you have another child to look after. When my daughter was small (under three months), I opted for the Moby Wrap over a number of other carriers I had, including the baby bjorn, the Ergo, and the Hotsling. By the time she got to be about three or four months, I found that my back began to hurt if I carried her for too long, and I switched to the Ergo carrier. It is possible to use the Moby Wrap for bigger children by strapping them to your back, but this always seemed a little cumbersome to me.Would you recommend this product to a friend? Without hesitation!
The Moby Wrap does take a little time to get used to, but I found that after a couple of weeks, I could put it on very quickly. Generally, I think that there are few better carrying options for an infant.

For safety reasons, we do not recommend using a stretchy wrap carrier for back-carrying. (Posted on 7/2/10)
Great newborn wrap Review by CINDY

The Moby Wrap is a soft wrap that is excellent for newborns. It has a bit of a learning curve but is a great wrap to learn on. At first it might feel awkward but before you know it, you'll be wrapping tightly and comfortably in mere minutes.Would you recommend this product to a friend? Yes
However the con is definitely for people with big babies like me. Since mine have all been 9-10 lbs, I found the stretch in the fabric to make me feel baby's weight sooner than a wrap without stretch. It is great until about 18 lbs (which for me is just a few months), and then I tend to move onto another babywearing tool like a woven wrap. But for some people with smaller or slower gaining babies, 18 lbs could easily last a long long time comfortably! (Posted on 1/3/11)
Not ideal if you're short on time Review by Shelagh
Quality Price Value
I love the quality and versatility of the Moby wrap, and if you take the time to practice it's not that hard to get used to putting it on. What it IS, unfortunately, is time consuming, and when your baby is shrieking sometimes you don't want to stand around for several minutes putting on your baby carrier. Mine got much less use than I thought it would because of that. Either my fussy baby would already be crying and I couldn't take the time to get the wrap on, or I'd have put it on to go somewhere and the baby would decide he didn't want to be carried like that and I'd have wasted the time.Would you recommend this product to a friend? In the right circumstance.
For a more relaxed baby or one who loves to be carried/held close I think it would be great, but it didn't work out for us as well as I'd hoped.
The other con the Moby has is that because it's so long it's difficult to put on outside without dragging the ends on the ground and getting them dirty. (Posted on 6/30/10)
Most comfortable wrap I've tried Review by Nicole

I bought myself one of these wraps for my third baby and love it. I especially liked it when he was a newborn because he snuggled into it really well and I didn't have to worry about his head flopping around. Every time we went for a walk he would just fall asleep. Now that he's a little older I wrap him facing out (which uses the same wrapping technique) and he really likes that too. The Moby Wrap really spreads the weight across the shoulders and back so it's pretty easy on your body.Would you recommend this product to a friend? Without hesitation!
All the Moby Wrap comes with is an instruction booklet so I found it a little confusing to figure out, but once I had the main wrap technique down that's all I needed to learn. I also don't like how much fabric it is, I'm not a very big person so it wraps and wraps around me, plus if I try to put it on outside the ends always drag on the ground.
Overall though I do really like the Moby wrap, it is the most comfortable wrap by far. (Posted on 7/5/10)
Perfect for the early days Review by Nikki

I loved my Moby when my daughter was under 10 lbs or so. She was so cozy, all snuggled up on my chest. I found the stretchy wrap to be the perfect introduction to wraps because you can "pop" baby in and out, unlike woven wraps - it makes the wrapping process a little less daunting.
I'm expecting #2 and can't wait to snuggle the little one in my Moby again.
Another commenter mentioned that the ends drag on the ground when you're getting the wrap on. I found it easier to tie the wrap on before I left the house, even under my coat in the winter, and then just "pop" baby in when we got where we were going. Voila - no muddy ends!
One caveat: In my opinion it's not safe to wear a baby on your back in a stretchy wrap, no matter what the Moby instructions say. It's just too unstable. If you want to do a back carry, I recommend a woven wrap. And lots of practice with a spotter or over a soft couch or bed! (Posted on 1/4/11)
We only got a few weeks out of it, but it was good for those few weeks Review by Michelle

We tried a Moby wrap first, and initially, it worked well. It does take a while to get the hang of the wrap, but it wasn't too steep a learning curve. It kept my baby high enough so that my c-section scar wasn't bothered, which was nice, especially early on.Would you recommend this product to a friend? In the right circumstance.
However, I had a big kid (almost 10 lbs at birth, and he gained fast) so by 2 months, this was getting harder to use - it needed constant adjusting, usually just as the boy fell asleep, which would wake him up. I think it's just the nature of stretchy wraps, based on what I've heard from others. (Posted on 1/4/11)
Ok, but not for me! Review by Momtolila

My baby liked the Moby wrap for the first few weeks...at first she seemed very comfy in there, and she has had a few great naps in it. Unfortunately, I wasn't that crazy about it! Although I'd read many reviews that said it wasn't that hard to wrap, and I watched YouTube videos showing how...I found the wrapping to be a bit of a pain. It would be impossible to do anywhere that you didn't want the 15 feet of material to touch the floor, such as a parking lot, or shopping mall. I also found that it was difficult to wear over even a tank top! It was constantly bunching up and getting out of place on my shoulders. I could wear it with just a bra, but how useful is that for walks in the park? Also try to settle a squirmy baby in it! These days, now that she is much more awake, my baby only wants to be placed in it when she is already pretty sleepy and calm. I might try it again when she's a little older and I can have her legs hang out. Honestly though, its probably not worth all the hassle for me. (Posted on 5/16/12)
