BumGenius Organic Cloth Diapers
BumGenius one-size cloth diapers are designed to fit most babies weighing between 7 and 35 pounds. While this will sometimes mean a super bulky newborn diaper, we've tested this out on the newest member of the Parenting By Nature family (little Miss Aurora Tempest) and since weighing only 8 lbs at birth, we're happy to report this trim-fitting, super absorbent diaper is by far a favorite in our household. And trust us, we've tried A LOT of cloth diapers over the last 4 years of using, testing and selling cloth diapers. We encourage you to give just ONE of these cloth diapers a try. We're certain you won't regret it! BumGenius cloth diapers are modern cloth diapers at their best!
Cloth Diapers AFFORDABLE? HOW?
Customers often ask us - how can using cloth diapers be AFFORDABLE at nearly $30 a diaper?!? When you figure the average baby is in diapers for 2.5 years, and parents are spending approximately $106* per MONTH on disposable diapers, that's more than $3000 on throw-away diapers PER CHILD !! So when you weigh that cost with a cloth diapering system of beautiful, soft, organic fabric BumGenius all-in-one diapers at $30 per diaper for 36 diapers (the minimum average suggested for longevity and 2+ years of diapering) that's almost 1/3 OF THE COST OF DISPOSBLE DIAPERS! The numbers don't lie! Now imagine the savings if you are able to cloth diaper a second baby with the same diapers?!?
Can you think of a better way to spend $2000+ than on "use and toss" diapers? Here's a few ideas:
- Invest in a quality car seat.
- Start an RESP for your new baby. No time like the present to start investing in their education!
- Invest in your own RRSP or similar savings plan.
Go on a mini vacation before baby gets here. It might be your last chance in awhile!
And just one more thought - you'll save even more if you use the same diapers on a second or third baby, or even sell your used diapers when you're done with them. So wash them with care and hang them to dry when you can. The monetary savings will add up, and so will your efforts towards less waste in our environment.
*(Cost based on .44 cents per diaper - $14.99 per 34 pack of disposable diapers with recent price comparison of Pampers Swaddlers diapers, mid-range diapers - with diapers being changed an average of 8 times per day for 30 days. This is a conservative calculation. For sanitary reasons it is suggested that a baby should be changed more often. Cloth diapers are REAL "cloth" diapers and will require approximately 10-12 changes per day.)
An ingenious design - cloth diapers CAN be easy!
Looking for organic, natural fibers next to your baby’s bottom? The award winning one-size bumGenius design with snaps for increased longevity paired with luxuriously soft, 100% organic cotton inside makes a perfect combination. Organic, one-size and affordable - cloth diapers don't get much better than this!
Care notes: It is recommended that all bright colours be pre-washed 5-7 times for the colours to "set".
Nice, but prefer the non-organic style Review by Kristen

I was surprised that the organic version of this diaper was very different than the non-organic one. It's a bit expensive, but understandable being organic. The construction and feel is beautiful, and it fit baby great right from the start. I don't like that it doesn't come apart like other pocket diapers. This is truly an all in one diaper that once worn is thrown into the wash bin all in one piece. That means there is no fiddling around with pockets, inserts, or whatever - makes it good for when we're out of the house. But the cover ends up sitting in the bin with all the other diapers/inserts and ends up in the dryer every time. (Posted on 7/6/10)Would you recommend this product to a friend? Yes
Excellent diapers but falling apart after 18 months Review by Karole

We've used nothing but these diapers since our son was about 2 months old - he is now almost 20 months. The diapers are amazing. Great fit, no leaks, no diaper rash, easy to wash, and they look so cute. The ONLY time we ever suffered a poop explosion was when our guy was in disposables on holiday. We also bought a couple of the BumGenius 3.0 pocket diapers, but hated them. They seem to leak more, retain stink, are a bit more finicky to use (because of the pocket) and I loathe the idea of possibly carcinogenic polyester next to baby's skin.
My only gripe with the organics is they have deteriorated a lot in 18 months. We've had a couple of broken snaps, but as the diapers were still covered by warranty, Cotton Babies replaced these without hassle. Now there are holes in almost every layer of cotton in almost every diaper. I don't know how they can suggest that one might be able to diaper a second child with a one-time investment of diapers. We have 25 diapers in rotation, so somewhat less than the 36 they recommend. I don't know if they'd be showing much less wear if I had a few more in the mix.
All in all, if we do have a second baby, I'll definitely be buying a new batch of these.
A note from the bynature.ca family: Thanks for your review! We've written an informative article on the cycle of wear and tear for cloth diapers that can be found here, http://www.bynature.ca/cloth-diapers-investment.html. I hope you find a few tips to help extend the life of your investment. (Posted on 5/16/11)
So easy! Review by Toniette

We use primarily prefolds, but I wanted to try some AIOs as well, and this is what we got. They're so easy to use! If I could do it over, I'd probably go with more of these, though they are quite the investment. These live in our diaper bag, since they're so easy when we're out! (Posted on 1/1/11)
AMAZING! Review by Darling Delilah

We have 36 of these and adore them. Make sure that you fully prep them with about 6 washes and dries before using and you won't have any leaking. To help speed drying time I turn them inside out and snap on the biggest setting. (Posted on 1/1/11)Would you recommend this product to a friend? Without hesitation!
