Sugar Peas Fleece Diaper Covers are made of 1 layer of heavyweight Malden Mills Windpro Fleece for superior leak protection. These covers work so much better than the typical 2 layer polar fleece covers and yet they are much trimmer. While they are more bulky than PUL covers (such as our Bummis Diaper Covers) they can withstand leaking for up to 12 hours on the average baby. They work great for daytime and night for most, except the heaviest wetters. Side snaps give a great fit with good coverage over any diaper.

How do Fleece Diaper Covers work?

Fleece is a man-made, 100% polyester material, which means it is not absorbent like wool. It is treated in such a way to make it water resistant. A fleece diaper cover works by "resisting" moisture from seeping through it's fibers. It breathes, similar to an all-natural fabric like wool, and allows air to circulate through the cover, but it resists moisture from getting out. Our Sugar Peas fleece diaper covers will work well over all styles of fitted cloth diapers, as well as prefolds. They will even hold an unpinned prefold securely in place!

One thing to note about fleece diaper covers is the fact that you do need to be diligent in changing the cotton or cloth diaper underneath, often. This is a GOOD thing! Your baby will be less prone to diaper rash when changed frequently and not forced to sit in a wet diaper. If the cloth diaper is allowed to become too saturated, the fleece can wick moisture when compressed, such as when your baby sits down. This is part of the trade off of a highly breathable cloth diaper cover. The more breathable the cover, the more porous the fabric. If air can get through the cover, eventually so can moisture. This can occur if the cloth diaper is allowed to become soaked through. Using a high-quality cloth diaper and frequent diaper changes will prevent this.
