Amber needs to be warmed against the body which releases the healing oils of the fossilized resin to be absorbed by the skin. Safety Concerns

Genuine Baltic Amber Teething Necklaces are made for wearing, NOT chewing. They are NOT designed for putting in the mouth. Parent supervision is recommended at all times when baby wears a necklace and your child should NEVER be left alone with a necklace on. Always remove your amber necklace from baby when baby is sleeping or unattended. As an alternative, you may wish to wrap the necklace around your baby's ankle, under a sleeper or socks. This is considered jewelery and should be treated as such.

The threaded screw in each necklace is removable, although in most cases it is threaded tight enough that it should remain in place. This is how the necklace is designed. The clasp is laboratory tested to release if excessive force is applied to the necklace, which ensures the highest safety. Should the clasp release under normal use, you can easily thread this back into one side of the clasp tightly, and continue to use the necklace.

What is Baltic amber?

The Baltic amber-succinite is a 100% authentic, natural fossilized resin produced 30-90 million years ago by pine trees growing throughout Northern Europe. These trees grew from the southern regions of the present day Scandinavia and nearby regions of the bed of the Baltic Sea. As the climate warmed, conifer trees started to exude large amounts of resin. According to scientists, Baltic amber is a fossil pine resin from this region that has achieved a stable state through oxidation. Although there are more than 125 types of fossil resins known throughout the world, many of these resins are not true amber, but its relatives. Baltic amber is uniquely known for its quality and healing properties and is the most sought after amber available.

How is Baltic amber collected?

The oldest and easiest way to obtain genuine Baltic amber is by collecting it on the beach, in regions close to the Baltic Sea. Some of the largest deposits of amber are located below the bottom of the Baltic Sea and amber stones are thrown out of the sea by waves during strong storms. Do Amber Teething Necklaces really work?

In nature, amber resin would have been used by plants and trees as an antibiotic against viruses. In ancient times, amber was a substance used for healing cuts or a plaster for wound dressing. During the middle Ages, when plagues swarmed across towns taking a heavy toll of the inhabitants, fumigation with the smoke of burning amber was considered an effective preventive measure.
